Costa Rica Travel: Volcan Poas

Volcan Poas, a volcano located about 35 kilometers north east of Alajuela, erupted again on Sunday. The volcano awoke from its slumber last Friday after being dormant for twelve years. The number of eruptions now totals eleven.

The volcano is one of the mountain peaks, and attracts thousands of visitors each year.

Costa Rican authorities states for the moment that nearby communities are not at risk.
